Natural Cleaning | Henry Happened

There are lots of reasons you might prefer to use all natural products for cleaning - for me it’s mainly health reasons! When you suffer from asthma, you find that many cleaning products can set off an attack. Of course, there is also the impact on our environment and general health. The unfortunate thing is that often you find that all natural cleaners just don’t do as well as the chemical filled commercial products. So I was excited to see a post on HH about a grease-fighting dish soap. HH has done the hard work and research to work out how to get a good natural dishsoap that will get your dishes clean without the residue. From there, I went on a click frenzy through her other posts which include Citrus Garbage Disposal refreshers, Naturally Antibacterial All Purpose Cleaner, and 5 Naturally Antibacterial Bathroom Cleaners. You’ll need to go out and purchase a few things like liquid castile soap (Dr Bronner is a fantastic Australian company that makes liquid castile soap & other beautiful castile products!) but in the end your body, environment and house will thank you! I’m planning on getting some castile soap tomorrow and making my own hand soap and some soft scrub for my bathroom!

I’m big on using natural products as well. My two jobs before teaching were in making/selling natural body-care and home products, and as such I have become a bit obsessed with the natural lifestyle! Nothing like learning the effects of chemical-based cleaners, lotions, and potions to confirm a love for natural products!

DIY Cloud Mobile

My girlfriend made a DIY Cloud Mobile video! I just want people to see her stuff!

Thanks for the awesome submission! I love how simple and dreamy these look. Very few materials needed for this, which is an added bonus, and the video makes the steps easy to follow. Lovely!

DIY Arm Knitting Tutorial - How to knit a scarf in 20 minutes (by WOOLANDTHEGANG)

Mar 27 '14

Hello friends. As you may (or may not) have noticed, I haven’t been around much lately. This is because of my new job. I was hired for my first teaching position on February 18th and it has been go-go-go since I started. My position is in grade one, French immersion. It’s a challenge, to say the least.

Most days I get home after 12-14 hours of work and don’t really have the energy to find or make lovely tutorials or fun projects. I am simply too tired! Some days I am working for all of my waking hours, and other days I just need to shut my brain off completely.

That being said, I am accepting submissions. If you have a tutorial that you’d like to share with my… I don’t know, tens of followers, please submit! I don’t want this blog to die, but I also don’t want to give it much attention until things slow down a little for me at work. IF that ever happens.

Thanks for reading and for following. Enjoy the first few weeks of spring!

Upcycle Your World! | Bottles

I recently went through my old ReadyMade magazines and was inspired to start a new feature - on upcycling! There are so many great ways to re-use the things around us. Hopefully you find some inspiration!

The first thing we’re looking at is one of the easiest things to upcycle - a plastic bottle! From soda bottles to milk bottles, I’m sure you have some sitting in your house somewhere. As you can see above, there are lots of fun things you can make, from cat planters to piggy banks! Click on the links below to see the tutorials.

Kitty Planters | Recyclart

Jewelry Stand | Epbot

Bottle Bank | Martha Stewart

Recycled Milk Jugs | Apartment Therapy

I love these projects! And they seem like good classroom projects too. Hmm…

DIY Succulent Shelves - Man Made DIY

I love these! I am notoriously bad at keeping the simplest of plants alive. My succulents suffer while my tropicals thrive. It’s bizarre. But I still want these shelves.
